OK. So I am sitting in church on wednesday and we had a guest pastor in because my pastor is in Malaysia. He used a quote in his message that totally summed up what I need to focus on in this struggle with my weight. The quote is "Ambition is the path to success but persistence is the vehicle you arrive in." Persistence. Working out even when you feel that it is not working and you see no progress. Persistence. Continuing to deny your urges to eat emotionally even when you have been really good and the situation is really bad. Persistence. Pushing the reset button even when you think you "blew it" and not just saying "Well, I did terrible today and so I might as well go to Baskin Robbin's and have all 31 flavors and blow this weight loss thing to jupiter." Persistence. Something I have been struggling with the last couple of days. What is going to make this time different from all the other times I tried to lose weight "for good"? Persistence. Lord I pray you give me some persistence and some faith that with your help, I can finish this race.
"Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain." 1Corinthians 9:24

Persistence is right - What will make this time any different then the other times? Well, you are not going to worry about the one pound you may or may not lose this week...you are going to work hard and make good choices and do what you KNOW is the right thing to do. You are going to be persistent and then look back a year or two from now and see the distance you've come. Then you will see how persistence pays off and that the rewards for it were way better than 1031 flavors of icecream!
Hey Girl!
This post is so on point.
Honestly, I was having one of those days myself earlier. My regular work out budy had to attend a meeting so she couldn't come with me to the gym.
This provided the perfect excuse for me NOT to go workout this afternoon. I had almost talked myself out of going. No one would know, but me! But persistence, made me get my booty up out of my chair and do what I know I needed to do!
Sigh...and I feel so much better having had my work out.
You are persistent and determined. You're already in the race...you're going to finish!
I'll check back with you soon!
i needed this today girl!
thanks so much for blessing us with that!
have a good weekend!...will be checking you out monday...
Love your idea on "pushing the reset button" when we think we may have blown things. Should be a good mental image -- to really visualize pressing it -- before reaching for that bag of chips. Keep up the good work!
Pushing the reset button.... Those are truly words to live by. It is so easy to just toss in the towel and say I'll try again tomorrow, or next week or even next month.
Amen!
Fantastic post... and just what I needed! thank you!
Sing it girl, sing it. Or speak it, whatever. But you're right...it's persistence. Sometimes you have to make yourself do it--pass up the junk, go exercise--just because.
Persistence is key!
Thank you for all your lovely comments ladies. I am going through a particularly emotional time right now. Battling some "inner demons" and I really need to lay hold of this right now. It is worth it.
